Stephen Canfield-Doyle graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2016 and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2013. He joined both Niehaus Law Office and Niehaus Tax Services in 2019. His practice focuses primarily on estate planning, estate administration, and individual and fiduciary income tax.
Since joining the firm, Stephen has advised clients on their estate plans and drafted wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, and other necessary legal documents to provide them with peace of mind that their wishes will be met both during their life and after their death. He utilizes his individual income tax knowledge to advise clients on tax-saving approaches and income tax ramifications for themselves and their beneficiaries.
Stephen also meets with spouses and family members after the death of a loved one to determine if probate is necessary. If estate administration is required, he assists executors throughout the entirety of the probate court process, including answering any questions they may have, preparing and filing the necessary legal documents, and advising them of the next steps in the process.
For those where probate is not required, he answers any questions that loved ones may have, assists with the transfer of any real estate or accounts to surviving joint owners or beneficiaries, and if trust administration is necessary, assists the trustee with the trust administration process. In addition, Stephen prepares 1041 fiduciary income tax returns for his clients, and helps explain the tax consequences of various types of inheritances from an estate or trust.
When he’s not in the office, Stephen enjoys spending time with his husband, George, their daughter, Beatrice, and their three dogs; attending shows at the Aronoff; game nights with friends and family; and training for the Flying Pig races.
